Edited by: Stormwind Bloodfeather on 12/08/2008 06:30:23 read what I could but 73 pages is way to much.
so. New to Linux (finally broke the windows addiction...sorta) I have UBUNTO 8.04 and tried the linux client w/cedega. In station my fps were about 40 or so, but he station was rendered very very badly. vertical bars everywhere... undocked fps were 4-6 but other than the station rendering everything appeared to be fine except he **** poor fps so decided to try wine.
First issue I had was the EULA screen appearing blank. searching for 4 hours here finally found me the install arial.ttf bit. did that.. low and behold the EULA appeared! Yay!
Log into the game running premium graphics and what do I see... 1/2 of my ship, bits and pieces of the station, and a lot of odd effects (i'm not a techno wiz so bear with my descriptions eh? lol). I decided to try standard graphics and everything looks and runs fine.... so far.
I have an amd athalon 2gig based system. nvidia 7600gt vid card(512 meg). 1.5 gigs ram. onboard VIA sound. I can deal with standard graphics but... I can't seem to get wine to run multiple eve clients, anyone willing to point me in that direction? Remember. I am TOTALLY new to Linux and wine other than very minor messing around with REDHAT a few years ago. Consider me a total Linux Newb (you would be 100% correct)

well I am no nvidia card owner, but:
1. disable bloom. hdr. shadows 2. switch fullscreen to windowed and back
check graphics. btw these quirks are well documeneted in earlier posts in this thread. also there was some problem with 7xxx GPUs IIRC with the driver. hope some 7600gt owner can fill you in with the details.
I just ordered a new ASUS-Mothder board and processor, NVIDIA 9500 GT Vid card, water cooling system and 4 gigs of ram (two came with the system, I am adding 2 more gigs to top it off) to upgrade my system. I'll be going from the 7600 to a 9500 in a few days. Once I have it installed and get everything running again, then hopefully the 9500 will fix the premium graphics issue. In the mean time, I managed to get whine to work real well with EVE. Still no premium Graphics, and I can't seem to run two clients w/o a massive system crash (processor maxes out, memory and swap goes through the roof and very shortly after UBUNTU drops like it was pole-axed by a 350lb guy with a bad attitude.)
